🚫 Online Gaming Bill 2025

Ban on Promotion of Real-Money Online Games
Effective Date: August 20, 2025

As per the “Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025”, promotion of real-cash gaming platforms is banned. Violators will face legal action.

🔍 What Is Banned?

Promotion of cash games: Rummy, Poker, Fantasy Sports, etc.
Sharing referral links to betting or gambling apps
Advertising real-money games on social media or video content
Facilitating UPI or bank payments for such platforms

⚖️ Legal Penalties

Operators: Up to 3 years Jail + ₹1 crore fine
Promoters: Up to 2 years Jail + ₹50 lakh fine
Repeat Offenders: Up to 5 years Jail + ₹2 crore fine
Status: Cognizable & Non-bailable Offences

✅ What's Allowed

Esports, education-based, and social skill games
Only licensed platforms regulated by the Gaming Authority
Adherence to age checks and player safety rules

🔒 The government has the power to block illegal games and content under IT Act, Section 69A.
